Folkestone CC are sad to announce the passing of two people with strong links to our club.
Mrs May Waddup sadly passed away recently. May was the late widow of Derek Waddup who was a former all-rounder and club playing legend from the 1950’s/60’s and subsequently became our Honorary Secretary for several years. Their son is Gary Waddup, a former 1st team wicket keeper/batsman who played with great distinction in the 1980’s/90’s and was in the successful Folkestone side who were Kent League Champions in 1989.
The funeral will be on Thursday 18th December at 11.30am at Hawkinge Crematorium.
All welcome.
Colin ‘Codge’ Greetham has also sadly passed away recently.
‘Codge’ was a lifelong friend of Dave Curran and many other club members at Folkestone CC.
He was a highly skilful wicketkeeper/batsman and was very much the ever-smiling face of the world-famous Hampshire Stragglers CC side who toured South East Kent every August from 1966 and for the next 50 years.
Our annual fixture with them was always eagerly anticipated and usually produced an excellent game played in a great spirit.
It was top class midweek cricket played competitively but with real camaraderie between the 2 teams and followed by some fantastic nights in the bar.
Codge will always be fondly remembered by his many long-standing friends at FCC, may he rest in peace.
His memorial service will be on Monday 8th December at 1.30pm at Harting Congregational Church nr Petersfield Hants.
All welcome.
