Folkestone & Hythe Support for Ukraine

The events in Ukraine are something that are troubling to all of us. Over the past few days I have been pulling together resources with local groups to start offering help to those suffering the horrific situation that is unfolding.

From TODAY, Bigjigs Toys are providing space at our Folkestone Warehouse for donations to be made, sorted and loaded onto lorries bound for Eastern Europe.

Our warehouse will be open from 9am-5pm Monday to Saturday to accept donations and is located at Unit B, Kingsmead, Folkestone CT19 5EU

The AA are putting signs up this week to help direct people to the drop off site.

We are working with local organisations to provide volunteers to sort, label and stack the goods into a 40ft lorry that we have parked in our yard (see attached), supplied by Richard Chapple at Freight 44 in Lympne. Once this one is filled we will have another one delivered to us.

Richard has very kindly offered to cover the drivers wages to drive the lorry to Eastern Europe. Bigjigs Toys will be funding the rest of the costs (fuel / duty / tolls etc) for this first lorry.

What we are in need of…

1 – Donations – Below is a list of the most needed supplies at the moment :

• Nappies
• Baby Wipes
• Sanitary Products
• Baby Food
• Food and Drink (long lasting)
• Warm Socks and Hats
• Other Clothing
• Medicine
• Toiletries
• Blankets / Bedding

3 – Funds – We need to raise money to pay for as many lorries as are needed. We are working with Igor who is the father of a child at Elham Primary School. Great progress has been made in the past 5 days, but more is needed. Link below
