Folkestone CC AGM – 27th Nov 2026

Hi All

Further to the announcement of the AGM on 27th November, I would like to highlight a few important points items that will be the subject of discussion at the meeting:

  1. The election of a 2027 committee that will effectively manage the club to achieve its goals in a sustainable manner. Given the growing diversity in our membership and the broad demographic this supports we should seek to elect a committee that serves all parts of FCC on a coordinated and consolidated basis.
  2. An open and honest conversation about the finances of the club and what changes need to be made to ensure our future.
  3. The confirmation/election of the captains for the men’s and ladies’ teams for 2027.

To this end, we are opening nominations, which should be made to the Secretary (Jo Krayenbrink) supported by a proposer and seconder (all of which must be club members), for the below committee roles from today until 8th November. A vote will take place for each role at the AGM.

As noted above, I am very keen to include as broad a cross section of the club to fulfil these important roles as possible and very much welcome new volunteers – I believe that the more volunteers that we have involved the lighter the burden on each individual, and so if folk wish to join forces to share a role that would be acceptable. Further, I would expect that those individuals who elected to sub-committee roles will seek to form groups of members who are able to assist them in the provision of their responsibilities.

If anyone would like to speak to me directly to learn more about these roles and then I would be more than happy to meet or have a call to provide further background, but a summarised view of each role is as follows:

Core Committee roles

Chairman – Manager of the committee and representative of the whole club. Drives the direction of the committee and sets the agenda for growth for the club.

Secretary – Prepares agendas and maintains minutes for committee meetings. Responsible for all external and club-wide administrative communication and organises the AGM.

Treasurer – Devises and owns the budget for the club, holding committee members responsible for expenditure and also for the generation of income.

Ladies’ Representative – Acts as the link between the committee and the Ladies section. Responsible for organising training and appointment of team managers/coaches, and the collection of training and match fees

Junior’s Representative – Acts as the link between the committee and the Junior section. Responsible for organising training, appointment of team managers/coaches, and the collection of training and match fees.

Girls’ Representative – Acts as the link between the committee and the Girls sections. Responsible for organising training and appointment of team managers/coaches, and the collection of training and match fees

Men’s Representative– Acts as the link between the committee and the Senior section (including Walking Cricket). Responsible for organising training, overseas players, co-ordination of selection with the team captains, and the collection of training and match fees.

Welfare/Safeguarding Officer – As per KCCC and ECB requirements.

Sub-Committee positions (these roles will not be required to attend all committee meetings but will operate under direction of the core committee and be obliged to report back with updates etc.)

Events – Organises events to deliver a target income amount as derived by the Treasurer. At a minimum to include: Season end celebration, Christmas party, etc.

Sponsorship & Fundraising – Promotes the club externally to raise sponsorship and fundraising activities to deliver a target income amount as derived by the Treasurer. Responsible for all forms of sponsorship from Kit, Academy, Match Day, Advertising signs, etc.

Fixtures – Manages relationship with leagues and seeks additional fixtures for all teams outside of the League framework to deliver opportunities for as many games as the summer allows, with a view to increase the total match fees derived.

Membership – Ensures that all membership fees are paid before 1st April each year. Recipient of applications for prospective new members.

Diversity & Inclusion – To promote and support diversity and inclusion throughout the club to ensure that all members feel about to fully participate in all FCC activities.

Kit & Property – Responsible for the provision of kit to all sections of the club and for safeguarding of all FCC assets including but not limited to the contents of the lock-up.

Communications – Runs FCC’s social media feeds and maintains the internal WhatsApp group community to provide broad information to members on fixtures, results and activities.

Further, we are also opening up nominations for the captaincy for each of the five men’s senior teams and the ladies’ team(s) – these should be received by the Secretary by 8th November supported by a proposer and a seconder (as above these must be club members). Where necessary there will also be a vote held at the AGM during which nominees will be given the opportunity to convey their vision for how they would run the side. As above I am very happy to speak with any prospective nominees to help people better understand what is involved.

I am looking forward to having discussions with as many of you as I can over the coming weeks to talk about the future of our club and to encourage you to volunteer to be a part of that future. And of course I look forward to seeing you all at the AGM.

Kind regards
James Douse
Folkestone CC Chairman
