U9s KWIK Cricket Festivals 2020

Kent Cricket Mini Super 8s

The Under 9 Mini Super 8’s club competition is back for 2020.

Clubs from all around the county compete at a local level during June at mini festivals, battling it out for a place at the county finals day in September, which will again be held at the prestigious county ground Beckenham.

The competition is aimed as an introduction to the wondrous game of cricket, for beginners to the game (hardball capable and area program players are not permitted), ideal for those who have progressed through the ECB All Stars programme.

The fast paced action packed games are played as pair’s Kwik cricket, each batting pair facing 2 overs, and everyone gets to bowl an over.

Rules and ideas

  • Normal Kwik Cricket Rules.
    • 8 a side
    • 8 overs each
    • 1 over each player
    • Each pair bat 2 overs
    • Minus 5 for a Dismissal.
    • Tied games decided by number of wickets lost.
  • Allow 40/45 minutes per game when scheduling.
  • If 3 teams, then simple round robin.
Just 1 pitch. Running time 120 to 135 Minutes.
  • If 4 teams, then 2 Semis and a Final.
    • Pitch Running Time as above
    • 2 Pitch Running Time 80 to 90 Minutes.
Optional 3/4 Place Play Off, no extra time if run alongside Final.
  • If 5 teams. Simple League.
    • 2 Pitches. All play each other (4 Games). Running Time 160 to 180 Minutes PROBABLY FAR TOO LONG, SO TRY TO AVOID 5!

    • 2 Groups of 3
    • Group Winners play in final
    • Group Runners up play off for 3/4.
